How we made this page

The 2026 season comes from the official website of each campsite and other sources we cross-check, or from what the campsite itself states on its page. We only count a month as open when the published dates cover the whole month.

“Near the beach” means the campsite is on the coast according to its location; we do not count inland campsites with a river or lake beach.

We do not know the availability of each day: confirm dates and places with the campsite (each campsite page has its phone number and website). Page generated on 24/10/2026.

Camping in Valencia: Albufera, huerta and the Mediterranean coast

The province of Valencia offers campers a diversity of landscapes and experiences that few Spanish provinces can match. The capital, one of the most dynamic cities on the Mediterranean, sits alongside a first-rate natural setting: the Albufera Natural Park, the historic huerta (market gardens), the beaches of La Malvarrosa and El Saler, and a mountainous interior that reaches the valleys of the Cabriel river. This combination makes it possible to plan stays that mix urban culture, nature and beach within a relatively small radius.

The Albufera of Valencia is one of the most important wetlands on the Iberian Peninsula. This shallow coastal lake, surrounded by rice fields and connected to the sea by three channels known as golas, is home to a great diversity of waterbirds and is the place where Valencian paella was born. Sailing on the lake by boat at dusk, when the light changes over the rice fields and the silhouettes of ducks cross the sky, is an experience with no equal. Campsites near the Albufera and the beaches of El Saler and La Devesa let you enjoy this natural park with the comfort of a camping base close to the city.

The city of Valencia is in itself a destination that deserves several days of visiting. The Central Market, with its Modernista architecture and its range of produce from the huerta and the sea, the Carmen quarter with its mix of street art and medieval architecture, the City of Arts and Sciences by Calatrava and the Silk Exchange (La Lonja de la Seda), a World Heritage Site, are just some of its attractions. The Fallas, in March, turn the city into a spectacle of fire, music and ephemeral art that attracts visitors from all over the world every year. Many campers take advantage of the network of campsites in the surrounding area to attend the festival without the accommodation problems of the centre.

North of the capital, the coastline of La Safor and the coast between Gandia and Oliva have fine sandy beaches of notable quality. Gandia is the birthplace of fideuà, a seafaring noodle dish that rivals paella in popularity and is made with fish from its fish market. The inland districts of Valencia, such as the Vall d'Albaida, the Canal de Navarrés or La Costera, hold villages with a craft tradition, Moorish castles and little-visited Mediterranean mountain scenery. Xàtiva, with its double-walled castle overlooking the plain, and Ontinyent, in the heart of the Vall d'Albaida, are cultural landmarks of the southern interior of the province.

The Hoces del Cabriel Natural Park, at the western end of the province, is one of the most spectacular natural areas in the Valencian Community. The Cabriel river forms a canyon there with vertical walls covered in Mediterranean vegetation where canoeing, hiking and climbing are common activities. The Utiel-Requena district, with its landscape of vineyards, medieval caves and wineries, produces some of the best-known wines in the Valencian Community and offers a wine tourism experience accessible from the campsites in the area. Horchata de chufa, all i pebre of eel from the Albufera, arròs al forn and the pumpkin fritters of the Fallas complete the picture of a cuisine that reflects the richness of the huerta, the sea and the festive tradition of the province.
