Le Verdon-sur-Mer marks the tip of the Médoc, where the Gironde estuary finally opens out to the ocean opposite Royan, in a landscape of protected dunes and pine woods. Camping La Pointe du Médoc offers a full resort with bungalows, a bar, a restaurant and its own supermarket, beside two pools, a sauna and a barbecue area. Fishing is possible on the nearby coast, and the playground keeps the little ones busy. Pets are allowed and there is wifi on the site. The sand at the tip of the Médoc is reached in a few steps. It is best to call ahead to find out exactly when it opens this season.
