Montclar-sur-Gervanne nestles in the foothills of the Vercors, following the course of the Gervanne river, which flows down from the massif towards Crest through a valley of holm oak woods and small terraced vineyards. Camping La Vaugelette, a seasonal campsite, offers a bar, bungalows, glamping accommodation, a pool and a restaurant, in a quiet setting from which to explore the Vercors or head down to Crest, with its medieval tower, the tallest in France of its kind. It is a simple base for pre-Alpine hiking without the crowds of other parts of the massif. As it is a seasonal campsite, it is advisable to confirm the exact opening dates before planning the trip.
