Campsites and bungalows in Community of Madrid (Spain)
Campings abiertos todas las noches del 24 de diciembre de 2026 al 1 de enero de 2027 (8 noches) según la temporada que hemos verificado en la web oficial de cada camping.
The Community of Madrid combines the buzz of a great metropolis with the calm of a mountain range reachable in less than an hour. For those looking to go camping near Madrid, the north of the community offers landscapes of granite, pine forests, oak woods and reservoirs that let you switch off from the city noise without going too far from home. It is an ideal destination for Madrid families who want to escape for the weekend, for motorhome travellers touring the Peninsula, or for tourists who combine culture and nature on a single route.
The natural heart of the region is the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park. On the Madrid side, the campsites in villages such as Cercedilla, Navacerrada, Rascafría and Manzanares el Real make a perfect base for exploring its trails and summits. La Pedriza is one of the most spectacular granite massifs on the Peninsula: its labyrinthine rock formations attract climbers from all over Spain and hikers looking for unusual landscapes. The Peñalara peak, at 2,428 metres, offers routes of medium difficulty with views over both plateaus and the glacial lakes around it.
The Lozoya valley is another great attraction. From Rascafría to Buitrago del Lozoya the river runs between forests and reservoirs such as Pinilla. The beech wood of Montejo de la Sierra, one of the southernmost in Europe, is a must-see in autumn. Buitrago del Lozoya, with its medieval walled enclosure and its small Picasso museum, is a cultural surprise barely 80 kilometres from the capital. To the west, San Lorenzo de El Escorial and its Royal Monastery are a historic stop of the first order, with Mount Abantos as a green backdrop for hiking.
The campsites of the Community of Madrid accept tents, caravans and motorhomes, and many offer bungalows, wooden cabins and glamping with made-up beds. High season is summer: the sierra acts as a climate refuge for the capital, with temperatures several degrees lower than in the city. Spring and autumn are also excellent for hiking, climbing and nature photography. Activities range from swimming in the Santillana and El Atazar reservoirs to mountain biking on sierra tracks, by way of cultural routes through slate villages such as Patones de Arriba. The mountain cuisine —Madrid stew (cocido madrileño), roast lamb, artisan cheeses and wines from the Vinos de Madrid designation— completes an experience that combines the best of the mountains with the proximity of the country's most vibrant city.
