Nantes divides its heritage between the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany and the old industrial buildings of the Île de Nantes, now converted into cultural spaces beside the Loire. Camping Nantes is near the centre, handy for visiting the city without a car, with bungalows, glamping tents and its own restaurant, beside a pool to cool off in after walking the streets. Dogs are allowed and wifi covers the common areas. Takeaway food takes care of evenings when you don't feel like cooking, and the spa rounds off the day in peace. It is open all year, and it is best to book in good time if travelling in high summer.
