Chambretaud, in the Vendée bocage (hedged farmland), is a stone's throw from Puy du Fou, the great historical theme park that attracts thousands of visitors every summer to this area of hedgerows, meadows and sunken lanes among oak woods. Camping au Bois du Cé, a seasonal campsite, has a bar, bungalows, takeaway food, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a jacuzzi, in a quiet rural setting away from the bustle of the park, though a short drive away. It is a comfortable base for those visiting Puy du Fou who prefer to stay in the heart of the Vendée countryside.
