Description of the campsite
Balaruc-les-Bains sits on the shores of the Étang de Thau lagoon, between Sète and Montpellier, famous for its thermal waters used since Roman times and for the oysters raised on the beds of the lagoon itself. Camping des Vignes offers bungalows and a bar, with takeaway food and a pool for the Mediterranean heat, and dogs are allowed throughout the site. The beach is nearby, both the lagoon one and the Mediterranean one at nearby Sète. It is a quiet base for combining spa treatments, oyster gastronomy and the beach without leaving this corner of the Hérault. The landscape of salt pans, vineyards and brackish lagoon defines the whole area around Balaruc. The site stays active throughout the season; even so, it is best to check the exact dates before travelling.
