Description of the campsite
Pyla-sur-Mer has become famous for the Dune du Pilat, the largest sand dune in Europe, which overlooks the entrance to Arcachon Bay (Bassin d'Arcachon) from the Landes pine forest. Camping Panorama offers air-conditioned bungalows, a bar, a restaurant and a supermarket, a playground and a swimming pool, and is close to the beach. Dogs are allowed. Climbing the dune at sunset, with the forest on one side and the ocean on the other, is one of the must-do experiences of the area, as is crossing by boat to the Arguin sandbank. It opens seasonally, although it is best to pin down the specific dates by phone before deciding to book.
