Carcans stretches between Landes pine woods and the great Lake Carcans-Hourtin, the largest freshwater lake in France, on the Gironde coast north of the Bassin d'Arcachon. Camping Les Mimosas makes the most of this double face of forest and water with a pool for the summer, a bar to talk over the day and a takeaway food service. The bungalows shelter those who bring no equipment of their own, in a setting designed for those who want a lake beach or a sea beach depending on the day, with both a short bike ride away along the forest tracks.
