Itxassou is one of the Basque villages best known for its cherry trees, which every spring cover the slopes beside the river Nive with white blossom, between the Artzamendi and Mondarrain mountains. Camping Hiriberria offers glamping accommodation, a pétanque court and a pool, in a quiet setting of scattered farmhouses and traditional pelota courts (frontons). From here you can walk to the nearby summits or go down to the river to cool off in its pools, with the Basque language and customs always very present in the landscape. It opens seasonally; a call made well in advance will clarify the exact dates for this year.
