Chauzon sits in the Ardèche gorges, the limestone canyon carved by the river between walls of white rock that attracts thousands of canoeists each summer from Vallon-Pont-d'Arc. Camping Le Coin Charmant offers a bar, bungalows and takeaway food beside a playground, with a pétanque court and a pool to cool off in after the canoe descent. And the river beach is practically at the campsite's door. It is open from 10 April to 20 September, and it is best to book well ahead in the months of greatest tourist demand in the gorges.
