Description of the campsite
Thueyts stands on a basalt lava flow that the Ardèche river has carved into vertical columns, one of the most visited geological curiosities in the département. Camping du Pont de Mercier offers a bar, takeaway food, a pool and a supermarket, in a volcanic setting of chestnut groves and dark rock. The trails along the lava flow are the classic outings from the campsite. It operates seasonally; it is wise to check with the campsite exactly when it opens before travelling.
