Description of the campsite
Access notice: the campsite warns that entering its address into a satnav may lead you onto impassable tracks. Check the arrival directions on its website and, from the point marked on the N210, follow the wooden signs "Quinta do Rio" or "QdR". Do not enter dirt tracks without that signage. Camping Quinta do Rio is in Canedo de Basto, in the ecological area of the municipality of Cabeceiras de Basto, 7 km from the A7 motorway. The final access runs along a dirt track of more than 2 km through a eucalyptus forest. The campsite occupies a former Vinho Verde estate converted by its Dutch owner Jochem, with wide terraces beside the Tâmega River, where you can swim and kayak. It has unmarked pitches with plenty of shade, 8 special type A pitches right on the riverbank, and accommodation such as glamping cabins and a lodge. It opens from 10 June to 1 September, with a minimum stay of two nights.
