Few entrances to the Gorges du Verdon are as photographed as Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, the village hanging from a cliff with its star suspended between two crags and its centuries-old tradition of glazed ceramics. Le Vieux Colombier, a seasonal campsite, offers bungalows and a pool for the Provençal heat, with direct access to hiking routes that skirt the canyon and climb to the turquoise Lake Sainte-Croix. The village itself, with its earthenware workshops and the chapel of Nôtre-Dame-de-Beauvoir high above, can be explored on foot from the campsite.
