Saint-Maime lies in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, among lavender fields and the limestone hills that herald the Luberon, not far from the Durance valley. Camping La Rivière offers bungalows, a fishing area, a pool and a restaurant, beside a watercourse that gives the site its name. The hilltop villages of the area, with their Provençal markets and their violet fields in July, are easy to visit from here. As is often the case at many campsites in the area, a call beforehand clears up the exact dates for this year.
