L'Aiguillon-sur-Mer looks out onto the bay that bears its name, an estuary of marshes and mussel beds on the border between the Vendée and the Marais Poitevin. Camping La Baie offers bungalows, a playground and a pool, and is close to the beach. The bay, a refuge for migratory birds, can be explored by canoe among the famous bouchots (mussel-farming stakes) where the area's mussels are raised, and the Marais Poitevin, known as the Green Venice, is a short distance away. The dates for this campsite could not yet be confirmed; asking before organising the visit avoids disappointment.
