Meschers-sur-Gironde is known for its old troglodyte caves dug into the cliff, once a smugglers' hideout and now a tourist attraction over the wide Gironde estuary, facing the Médoc coast. Camping Les Loges, a seasonal campsite, has a bar, bungalows, takeaway food, glamping, a swimming pool, a sauna and a spa, and pets are allowed, with the beach a short distance away among cliffs and pine woods. It is a quiet base for exploring the Matata caves, strolling around Talmont-sur-Gironde, one of the most beautiful villages in France, or taking the ferry to the other side of the estuary.
