La Bourboule, a spa town in Auvergne, lies in the heart of the Sancy massif, among volcanic mountains that rise well over a thousand metres in altitude. Camping Les Clarines has a bar, bungalows, a multi-sports field, a playground, pétanque, an outdoor and an indoor pool, and dogs are allowed. It also has hiking, television and wifi, and is close to a bathing area. The thermal baths of the town and the routes to the Puy de Sancy are the main attractions of the area. It opens in season; checking exactly when it opens, before organising the visit, avoids mishaps.
